Notes

Large granite boulder.' A section of the boulder is carved and polished in the image of a cloth draped over the stone. The surface is lightly inscribed with towns, roads and geometric lines to contrast with the fluid cloth. The inscription on the surface is reminiscent of pictograms found in the early history of Ynys Mon. The stone itself represents Holy Island surrounded by the sea.

Information from Cywaith Cymru: 'The commissioning of art for Holyhead was part of a scheme to place high quality sculpture in public places to reflect the city's history and contemporary development as well as acting as a focus of identity for the local community.'
