Notes | ||
Information from Festival Park: 'Arangzebe's tomb at Arangabad in India is masked by exquisitely delicate lace screens, which are trompe l'oeil carved from thread-fine white marble. Brimming Bowl reverses the effect; water made stable and shining like black polished stone, instead of stone itself rendered as fluid as lace.'
Brimming Bowl was sponsored by Garden Festival Wales and supported by the Welsh Arts Council and Sculpture at Margam. The work is sited at the entrance to the Factory Shopping Village and visitors are encouraged to throw loose change into the water with all proceeds donated to the hospice of the valleys.
A number of sculptures were commissioned for the Garden Festival of Wales in 1991/2 and some works remain on site.
