Stone carving of mermaid figure forming a circle to represent the cycle of life.The theme of the work is in the form of evolution, of life emerging from the sea to the land.

First Leisure plc commissioned and sponsored the work with the backing of the Arts Council. The company donated it to the town of Porthcawl.

The work is symbolic of Porthcawl's association with the sea.
