Coloured floor mosaic depicting local industrial motifs. Also designed new bus shelter as part of project. The mosaic starts at the bus shelter and curves toward road across new paved area. The work is part of the Garw Valley Project which produced a series of features (mosaic) for village centres, play areas and decorative street furniture (seats, bollards, bus shelter etc) designed around themes arrived at through community participation.

Information from Cywaith Cymru Newsletter: 'Until April 2000, artists Heather Parnell and Maureen O'Kane were sharing a residency at Groundwork Bridgend. Maureen is now working full time on the project. Artists working with the Groundwork Trusts are able to collaborate with the Landscape Architects, Education Officers and others to add value to projects and help make each project site specific - all of Maureen and Heather's projects used local motifs. Together the two artists pooled their skills and built on the community consultation work undertaken by Groundwork Bridgend. They undertook a variety of improvement schemes from designing a bus shelter and paving at Pontycymmer, to a new playground at Blaengarw. The range of works is impressive, using mosaic, metal, concrete and glass.'
