Notes

Steel railings with sections painted alternately blue and grey. The railings depict everyday objects and symbols of life in Ystrad Mynach including a pair of scissors and fish heads.

The Pierhead building is a local landmark at the entrance to the town and the artist designed railings around the perimeter to reinforce this area as a 'gateway' to the town. The work was commissioned by Caerphilly County Borough Council as part of a three year programme, with funding from the Arts Lottery, to improve and refurbish towns in the county. The artists were found and the individual projects managed by Cywaith Cymru.
