Clock tower in the lake built to resemble a lighthouse. The weather vane at the top depicts one of Scott's earlier expedition ships, the Discovery. | ||
The clock tower was donated by F.C. Bowring, J.P., a local coal exporter. | ||
Captain Scott set sail from Cardiff in the S.S. Terra Nova in June 1910 on the ill-fated exhibition to the South Pole. Scott and four of his companions died after being pinned down in blizzards on their way back in March 1912. | ||
