Around circumference of dial, incised lettering: AND HOURS RUN MAD EEN AS MEN MIGHT (anagram of "The Horniman Museum and Gardens"). Within incised border towards centre of dial: 1 2 3 4 (red faded to gold) 8 9 10 11 (blue). | ||
Four-sided plinth, made of three blocks, tapers slightly bottom to top. At top forms slightly inclined neck, to which is attached dial angled towards south. Two vertical parallel stone features (gnomons?) are attached to dial face. Foliate Horniman motif incised centrally together with motto, numerals and their frame. Bbg: D.
