Flat blue wood panel narrowing from upper right edge then widening to bottom left edge. Black straight centre line, curved lines, lines parallel to sides. Straight lines across numbered 1-7 on lower curved side. Gnomon: metal pin topped by small ball standing on metal star. Fixed to wall with metal brackets. Bbg: D. Along the edge of the sundial: THE SUN SHINES FOR ALL Bronze plaque, lower on wall: VERTICAL WEST FACING SUNDIAL / The time is given by the shadow of the ball, / at the end of the pin. On 21 March and 23 September, day and night are equal. On these / days the shadow will lie along the central line. / On the shortest day of the year, 21 December / the shadow will lie along the top curved line. / On the longest day of the year, 21 June, the / shadow will lie along the bottom curved line. / Designed by Ray Ashley / March 1994.
