The bust is sited over the main entrance above the subject’s coat-of-arms, which bears the motto ‘DEO DANTE DEDI’ (‘Because God has Given I Give’) [there also appear to be two dates 1885, which is the year Charterhouse School established the Southwark mission in Tabard Street, and 1935, when the present building was erected, replacing its predecessor]. | ||
