Notes | ||
Set in the centre of a tree-fringed picnic area, the sculpture is intended for children to clamber over and play on. All the shapes are roughly carved and the whole is fashioned to look like the lower part of a tree trunk. Six block-like steps lead up in a semi-circle, the last doubling as a high-backed throne with arm rests. The arm rests and back are carved to resemble giant leaves. Many of the surfaces are carved with relief representations of wild life, including an owl, a caterpillar, a squirrel, a butterfly, a dragonfly and a bird in a nest. | ||
