Notes

Carvings in high relief to right of main entrance to Town Hall building on projecting end bay of central block below first floor sash windows, in outer spandrels of pair of oeil de boeuf windows. The lefthand relief is 'Night', a leafy landscape with poppies, a moon and an owl. The righthand relief is 'Day', another leafy landscape, this time with a sun and flying duck. Breaking the centre of the entablature above the spandrels is a square framing a Wyvern in high relief. Between the oeil de boeuf windows is Leicester City Council's crest, also in high relief.
