Notes

Ringed cross with 'Sword of Remembrance' carved in relief on front face, surmounting a pedestal with battered faces on a step, all in unpolished granite. Supporting this structure and forming a lower step is a base of concrete. On the side faces of the pedestal are the names of the First World War dead, 24 per side, listed in straight alphabetical order, without ranks of regiments. Mounted on to the flat surface formed between the concrete base and the granite step at the front is a bevilled block inscribed "1939 - 1945" followed by the names of the 17 men of Countesthorpe who died in the Second World War.
