Notes

The memorial is sited in the middle of Central Avenue and is fenced around with a metal railing. On a concrete platform stand 3 pedestals. Surmounting the central pedestal is the main block, bracketed with pilasters decorated with carved wreaths. Each of the side pedestals supports 4 x 9-inch square pillars matching the pilasters of the central block. These 3 parts are linked by, at the bottom, walls between the pedestals and, on top, a massive cornice rising to an arch over the central block. Slate tablets on front and rear of the central block and pedestal bear the names of the dead.
