Notes | ||
Located at the back and to the sides of the high altar, the reredos is in the Decorated Gothic revival style. Across the section at the back of the altar are ranged carved, painted and gilded figures of Christ enthroned between 12 standing apostles. Each figure is framed within an ogee arch, the spandrels above which are filled with foliated tracery. A carved candelabrum-carrying angel stands at each end of the back section and on the forward ends of the side sections. The list of names on the N. wall of the church, referred to in the above-quoted inscription, is carved on 3 slate panels in an alabaster frame crowned with a free-standing, sculptured Calvary. The inscription records that this memorial was erected by the Women's Bible Class. Beneath this memorial, a slate tablet dedicated by Councillor Pamela Wills, Mayor of Hinckley, on 30 April 1995, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the ending of WW2. | ||
