Standing, bronze portrait statue of James Lumsden, in contemporary costume, holding a scroll in his left hand and a pair of spectacles in his right hand. The statue faces south

The monument was erected by friends and colleagues of James Lumsden. The modelling of the maquette was done in Mossman's North Frederick Street studio and the bronze was cast in London. (1)

James Lumsden (1778-1856), was a local stationer, politician and donor to several charitable institutions including the Royal Infirmary, of which he was Honorary Treasurer for nineteen years. He was Lord Provost of Glasgow (1843-46)
