Two pairs of draped, standing, female figures, 'designed to symbolise the characteristics of banking, "Prudence" and "Adventure", and its activities, "Commerce" and "Security." (1) | ||
The building was designed by A.N. Paterson of Campbell Douglas & Paterson, for the National Bank of Scotland. C.R. Bonn was his consulting engineer. The masons were Alex. Muir & Sons. Phyllis Archibald designed [and carved ?] the figures; Richard Ferris was responsible for the rest of the ornamental carving. J.W. Singer & Sons of Frome made the bronze casements and decorative iron work | ||
