The gates, painted black, are sculpted with nine figures associated with the history of Provand's Lordship or surrounding area: St Mungo / St Nicholas / Bishop Andrew Muirhead / Mary Queen of Scots / William Bryson / John Marshall / Matthew Whitelaw / Robert Foulis / Joan Eardley. The gates are also decorated with fish, birds, trees and rings, taken from the Glasgow coat of arms. | ||
