The new building was to cost no more than £150,000. 100 sets of drawings were submitted, 5 being selected by the assessor John J. Burnet. The selected architects were J.B.Fulton of London, E. Vincent Harris & Thomas A. Moodie of London, P.H.Keys & F. Dowdeswell of Buckinghamshire, Watson & Salmond of Glasgow and J. Wright jnr & W.J.Blain of Glasgow. Each firm received an honorarium of 100 guineas. The design by Watson & Salmond (of 225 St Vincent Street) was eventually chosen as the winner | ||
