Notes | ||
Vertical commemorative panel set within a red sandstone aedicule with its outer edges embelished with festoons and acanthus. The panel comprises the Arms of the City of Glasgow and a medallion profile portrait of Sir Daniel Macauley Stevenson, and an inscription.
The panel commemorates the laying of the building's foundation stone by Lord Provost Sir Daniel Macauley Stevenson on 3 July 1914. It is not certain whether the 'foundation stone' ceremony was actually the unveiling of the plaque as it was commissioned by the Corporation in January 1914. The building is listed.
