The building was originally designed by James Sellars and was completed, after Sellar's death in September 1888, by his assistant John Keppie. James Pittendrigh Macgillivray's bid was the lowest tendered (£120 for figure work) and was accepted on 31 July 1889. He was paid £120 on 19 May 1890. The other carved ornament, e.g. capitals, etc., were carved by McGilvray & Ferris for £73.2s11d (1) | ||
