Portrait heads of Homer (right) and Dante (left) in medallions, on either side of the main entrance, 44 Ashley Street There are also 4 unidentified heads in the capitals of the 1st floor pilasters on Ashley Street and 5 on Grant Street | ||
The building was designed (probably by H & D Barclay) as the Albany Academy. It then became the Albany Annexe of Woodside Public School and subsequently Ashley Street Nursery School. (1) It is now (May / June 1999) being refurbished as a Gaelic Primary School after lying unused for a number of years | ||
