The stone carvings depict eight processes in the processing of cotton. These are: cotton picking spinning weaving dyeing to add....

The reliefs were originally on the outside of the Sunnyside Mills, St Helen's Road, Bolton. The mill was opened in 1862 by Henry Lee and closed in 1980. It was demolished between 1982 and 1985. They were sculpted by J. Bonehill and Co. Under the supervision of the Bolton architects, C.T. Woodhouse. The reliefs were saved, cleaned and displayed at the entrance to market as part of the extension of the market in 1985.
