Commissioned as part of a six-month residency sponsored by Rossendale council and the Groundwork trust in response to the reforestation of Rossendale. It also incorporates reference to the green man myth. The commission included workshops in the area for consultation with the local community. The artist suggests that he was "reflecting a connection between ourselves and nature and the idea of projecting ourselves upon the landscape when we are already an integral part of it."(1) | ||
