Notes

Four colourful metal sculptures with flat figures, painted in bright colours and standing on concrete and brick plinths. Mostly quite large and striking in their depiction of dangers and their consequences. Designed by children and set on the grassed areas around the Crook Log Sports Centre. Danger on a skateboard: child involved in an accident while skateboarding. Figure of a child in blue top with the words GO on the front and STOP on the back, yellow shorts, green trainers and reversed baseball cap on head, with hands outstretched. Has a head wound bleeding with red paint and to the side is a brown tree with the top broken off by the accident. The skateboard is orange. Terror-fly: strange scene involving a flight of stairs and the danger of falling. Stairs are purple and red with an orange lion at the top. A figure in light and dark blue stripes, with arms and legs forming the shape of a cross is falling down stairs. At the bottom side of stairs is a slightly open door with a green devil peering round it. No plaque: Seated girl: large figure of a small girl sitting on the ground with hands outstretched at sides and legs straight out in front, holding five different coloured flowers in her left hand and one in her right. A very bright multi-coloured piece. The Road Accident: child wearing roller skates crossing at a pedestrian crossing having accident with car. Large piece with dark skinned child falling backwards onto car with horrified expression on face.

Depictions of dangers and accidents that can happen to children, in the home or when they are out and about.
