Notes

Mid-Victorian triple-light lamp with commemorative plaque at base. Decorative cast iron lampstandard on hexagonal base with three equally spaced (horizontal plane) arched arms, each holding lamp with glass shade. The lamps are approximately 440cm above ground level. Additionally, there is a further single arched arm holding a further lamp at a height of approximately 520cm above ground level.

Used as assembly point for dissident activity and therefore preserved with explanatory plaque when area cleared in 1960s. Early meetings of gas unions held there; salvation army and other religious groups; suffragette rallies.
