A sculpture in steel based on the steelmaking process.
Free Form involved local schoolchildren in developing ideas for the metal frieze which depicts the story of steel making in Britain. According to the artists, this project marked a new approach in several ways: it was the first public art scheme in the borough, a partnership between the public and private sector, with Welbeck Steel sponsoring the project through the ABSA pairing scheme.
Represents the working of sheet or ribbon steel as semi abstract progression. A community project with local schools' participation and workshops.(1)
