Notes | ||
Carved ram sitting with a magpie, with wings outstretched, on its left shoulder.
The name comes from a public house, the Ram and Magpie, which stood here. It was commissioned as part of the Bethnal Green City Challenge. Carved on site from a nine ton block of limestone between May-June 1996. Close to Spitalfields Farm which made the sculptress think it a fitting theme for the area.
Commemorates a public house which stood on this site around 1916.
